Every year at Christmastime I get the idea of playing around with hosting a Christmas music website and right after Christmas I tend to abandon it. But looking around I was amazed at how many artists had done Christmas albums. It seems everyone has got one except for Frank Zappa and Ry Cooder. This year I decided "in for a penny, in for a pound" and just decided to do it. I figured there must be more crazies and wackos like me who love Christmas music enough to listen to it all year 'round. So let's give it a shot and see what happens.
I have few ideas for the site which we'll be incorporating as we roll along. Of course, the reviews of each album will be the main focus and we'd love to incorporate as many different points of view as possible. We'll also be incorporating a message board for discussion of the reviews. Once a year (probably starting around October) we'll begin polls on who does the best version of specific songs. And who knows what else we might come up with?
We work on two premises: No one but John Lennon should be doing "Merry Christmas (War is Over)" (sorry, Moody Blues) and no one but The Waitresses should be doing "Christmas Wrapping" (that goes for you, Spice Girls.) You're free to agree or disagree, but that's where we stand.
This is going to be an ongoing project so don't despair of you don't see your favorite album posted right away; we'll get to it. The best way to get it posted is to submit the information to us; we'll get it online ASAP! Eventually we'd also like to look into the past and feature older albums that may no longer be commercially available. Eventually we also hope to be working with the music companies to let you know of upcoming releases.
I'm still carving things out here; in the meantime, if you like what you see and want to contribute in anyway, just drop me a line! I'd be happy to hear from you.
